Bible Verses for Children (For the People Under Your Roof)
The Bible does not treat children as smaller adults. It treats them as people Jesus called near. These are the passages for parents to read over them - at bedtime, at bath time, at the door.
The verses
Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
When to read them
- At bedtime, once they are asleep.
- At bath time, when they cannot understand yet.
- On the first day of school.
- On the way home from a hard day at their school.
