Bible Verses for Anxiety (For the Day You Can't Slow Down)

Anxiety is not weak faith. It is a body doing its job too well. These verses gather what Scripture says to a heart that will not stop.
The verses
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
When to read them
- The moment your chest tightens.
- Before you check the message you are afraid to open.
- In the car in a parking lot before you drive home.
- When a friend texts "please pray" and you don't know the words.
If it is heavier than a passage
If your anxiety is making it hard to work, sleep or care for the people who need you, please tell a doctor, a counselor or a pastor. Reading Scripture does not exclude asking for help.
Send it as a film
If someone you love is having a season like this, a short prayer film in Jesus's voice with their name in it is enough to hand them for a hard week. A Prayer Film for Them.
