Birthday Song vs. Birthday Message (Which One to Give)
Two of our birthday films look close on the shelf. This is a plain guide to which one belongs in your family group chat this year.
The short answer
- A Song for Their Name or A Birthday Song - an original song with their name in it. Warm, hummable, played at the reception.
- A Birthday Message - a short spoken film in Jesus's voice saying their name and blessing their year.
When to pick a song
- Your family plays music at every birthday.
- The person is a child who will dance to it.
- You want the whole reception to sing along.
- You want a keepsake to play the same day every year.
When to pick a message
- Your family reads out loud at every birthday, not sings.
- The person is a parent or grandparent who is quiet with music.
- The birthday is a milestone (a fiftieth, a seventieth) and the tone should be steadier.
- The person is going through a hard year and a message is what fits.
