Bible Verses for Hope (For the Season You Can't Find Any)
Hope in the Bible is not the same as optimism. It is a stubborn expectation that God will do what he said, even when the day says he will not. These verses are for the season you cannot find any.
The verses
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
When to read them
- The morning after the news you did not want.
- The week you cannot tell anyone yet.
- The month when nothing has moved.
- The service the sermon was on hope and you couldn't find yours.
