Mason began as an English occupational surname for a stone-mason (from Old French maçon). It has been a common given name in the English-speaking world since the 1990s.
Mason in the Bible
No Mason in the Bible, but stone is one of Scripture's largest words. Jesus renamed Simon "Peter," the rock, and said "upon this rock I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). Christians are called "living stones" in 1 Peter 2.
